Who we are…

Voluntary Action Rotherham (VAR) is the lead body for supporting, developing and promoting the voluntary and community sector in Rotherham. Our core activities and associated projects are a keystone for local community engagement and development.

Introduction to membership…

As a sector we are on the threshold of major change - a result of increasing demands and expectations by our own users, government and partner agencies and a changing funding climate.

Over the past year we have been working closely with our members to better understand what membership support services would be most effective, beneficial and important to you and your organisation, in today’s fast changing environment.

Using your advice and experience we have simplified the membership process which is now tailored to give you and your organisation the best possible support. This is just one of the activities that we are embarking upon to help the voluntary and community sector fully contribute to the economy of Rotherham and be fully recognised as the strong, committed and experienced sector it is.

Our new membership programmes have been designed in a way that enables every voluntary and community sector organisation across the borough, at every stage of development, to access, be represented within, and benefit from. In the interest of partnership working we have also recognised your need for our membership programmes to engage key statutory/partner agencies and private sector organisations to help support you in the regeneration and development of Rotherham.
