Student Volunteers Week - 20th February till 26th February

Did you know that 63 per cent of students take part in some form of formal voluntary activity during university, with 95 per cent driven to do so out of a desire to improve things or to help people. Volunteering also enhances employability, with half of recent graduates under the age of 30 in paid work saying that volunteering has helped them secure a job!

Solicitors Rush to Youth Charity’s Aid

Picture of Volunteer staff from Irwin Mitchell transform the resident’s day room at Rush HouseA ten-strong team from the Sheffield office of national law firm Irwin Mitchell has undertaken a makeover at Rotherham youth accommodation charity, Rush House.    The solicitors, trainee solicitors and legal executives transformed a day room for the centre, which provides short and medium term shelter and support services to vulnerable young people aged 16 – 25.

The project came about after Irwin Mitchell contacted Voluntary Action Rotherham (VAR) to enquire about needy projects as part of the law firm’s Employer Supported Volunteering (ESV) programme.
