Voluntary Action Rotherham

Recruitment of Voluntary Community and Faith Sector Representatives

The LSP is required to include representatives from voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations to participate in local decision-making processes. VCS organisations often bring a perspective which is much closer to the grassroots and can often reflect the     experience of people ‘on the ground’. This helps the LSP to be more informed about local conditions and makes it more relevant to the people of Rotherham.

The job of the network is to support VCS organisations to play an active role in decision-making by the LSP and to become aware of what is happening across the borough.

What does a VCVN representative do?

VCVN representatives are key people who attend Rotherham’s LSP meetings to make sure that the views of VCS organisations and their members are heard and acknowledged. They are responsible for ensuring that their specialist knowledge and experience of the sector informs planning across the LSP and its sub groups. To do this job effectively, they must:

  • Read minutes and attend briefings in advance of meetings,
  • Regularly attend LSP meetings and contribute to discussions taking place there,
  • Give feedback from meetings to network staff so that this can be circulated to VCS organisations.

The network supports all VCVN representatives to carry out these jobs
