| What is the LSP? |
|
The LSP brings together representatives from organisations that provide public services – the local authority, the police, Rotherham NHS and others such as the Chamber of Commerce as well as the voluntary, community and faith sector. Collectively they share the goal of improving the quality of life for local residents and also the responsibility for developing a strategy to achieve this. LSP members must therefore decide priorities and set targets for improvement on a wide range of services such as education, health, housing, policing and economic development. These are set out in Rotherham’s Community Strategy. Rotherham Partnership oversees the implementation of this strategy and monitors progress against targets set. The LSP underwent a review in early 2011 and have agreed that its three headline priorities are: Best Start in Life - Ensuring the best start in life for children and families Vulnerable - Supporting those who are vulnerable in our community Economy - Supporting and growing the local economy: ‘providing access to education, training, jobs and business opportunities’ There will be ‘task and finish’ style groups set up to specifically to deal with the headline LSP priorities above. There is also a new Economy Board which provides strategic direction in the development of the Boroughs economic priorities. |
