Allotment unveiling at The Woodlands’ summer fayre

21st August 2019

Patients and staff will be proudly showing off their newly revamped allotment at The Woodlands’ summer fayre in Rotherham on Wednesday August 21, 2pm – 3.30pm.

The Woodlands, which cares for people aged over 65 with mental health needs, is run by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH).

The team and their patients will be doing the big reveal of their allotment at their summer fayre which is being held between 2pm and 3.30pm. The fayre is open to all patients, their families and staff.

Visitors attending the summertime event can walk around the allotment and see for themselves the work that has been done to create a relaxing space which cultivates a sense of achievement.

Nicola Gill, Reablement Support Worker at RDaSH said: “We’ve transformed the allotment into an inviting space where patients can enjoy spending time. We’ve all put in many hours, lots of effort and thought into this project and are very pleased with the results.”

As well as the allotment unveiling, there will be a jumble sale, crafts, games and activities for people to get involved in. There will be a cake sale, lots of cream teas and strawberries and ice-cream.

Chloe Jackson, Occupational Therapist at RDaSH said: “The day will involve our patients as much as possible. They will be manning the stalls, crafts made in their art sessions, plants they have grown and cakes they have made in their cooking sessions will be on sale.”

The Woodlands is located behind Rotherham Hospital on Moorgate Road.
