Laser Engraving workshop with Adrian Barron

25th May 2019

Back by popular demand, Adrian Barron will be coming back to ROAR to run a Laser Engraving workshop on May 25th. This technique harnesses the laser cutter to create a unique print. This session will also look at ways to develop your relief printing techniques.

Adrian is an artist who has been making prints for over 30 years. He has taught at many colleges and universities such as Central St Martins, Byam Shaw school of Art, E.A.A. Estonia. He has won awards for printmaking such as the British Institute Prize – Royal Academy, Duveen Award- Slade, and exhibits both nationally and internationally.

The session will begin at 10am and run until 4pm and will be held at ROAR art space in Rotherham town centre, 5 minute walk from train/bus station (see address below). The price for the whole day will be £35, which will cover the teaching and equipment.

Attendees will be required to bring selected photographs on a USB stick for processing into a postcard size image. We will be working with oil-based ink, so please wear appropriate clothing for this sort of activity.

Comments from attendees on Adrian’s previous workshops:

“I had a great day on Saturday, loved the workshop, and now feel confident in trying other printing projects and also using the laser cutting machine. I loved the workshop so much even had a further experiment with a small lino cutting kit I have had a home (not used for a couple of years) the next day!”

“My daughter and I loved the course on Saturday, I work in print but had never used wood in this way.”
