Help us to Help You
What happens if our Volunteer Coordinator changes and new staff come into post?
Please log into your Volunteer Connect account and make the changes you need. . We need up to date contact details so that we know who to contact when we are brokering new volunteers to you and ensure that you are receiving the latest news and information from us. The same applies if you change address, Volunteer Connect allows you to be in control and make changes as you need to.
What if a volunteer isn’t suitable?
Sometimes for various reasons, a placement doesn’t work out. If this happens, please signpost volunteers back to us so that we can place them elsewhere in a quality placement.
What if we need a lot of volunteers for a one day event?
We love one day events at the Volunteer Centre! One day events are taster sessions for anyone who is new to volunteering, just make sure you let us know in plenty of time. Examples might be – a Summer Gala, Christmas Fayre or AGM. You can indicate on the opportunity form if you need volunteers for one off events or for group volunteering.
What do we do if we have a new volunteer opportunity?
It’s easy! Simply log into your Volunteer Connect account and add your role…its as simple as that!
What if we need to close an opportunity?
Again….just log in and close it!. However, the info stays on our system in case you need to re-open it at a later date.
Think about your volunteer roles. Does the role require a DBS check? Some roles may not but if a volunteer is working with children or vulnerable adults unsupervised for any period of time, we would advise you to undertake a DBS check for the volunteer(s). DBS checks are free for volunteers, you will just pay a small admin fee to the organisation that carries out the check. This fee varies, but on average will cost around £12. You should indicate on your opportinity that the role will need a DBS check (there is a button for this).
