Energy Adviser
Barnsley Energy Advice and Training Project

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: £24,974 per annum (depending on experience)
with potential to rise to specialist level salary based on development of skills and experience.

Contract status: 2 year fixed term

Holiday entitlement: 32 days annual leave + public bank holidays

Pension: Matching 5% employer’s contribution

Therefore, we are excited to announce that we are seeking to recruit an Energy Advisor to join our thriving charity at Citizens Advice Barnsley. Our service is busy, dynamic and client focused, with a long track record of delivering high quality advice. Where possible we also offer hybrid working that promotes a better work life balance.
We are looking for someone who can work with vulnerable adults who are, but not limited to; living in fuel poverty, have a long term disability or health condition, who are in debt and struggling to pay their energy bills and are on a low income.
By providing information and advice on how to cut energy bills, reduce energy use, challenge incorrect billing as well as providing access to emergency charitable support and grants to help with arrears and property improvements that will help them improve their finances, well being and beat the cost of living crisis.
Other essential skills and qualities include:
● have a keen interest in energy and energy advice
● be willing to complete Level 3 Energy Awareness course
● be able to deliver advice via a variety of different channels, such as but not limited to; community based settings, home visits, 1-2-1 face to face appointments and over the telephone.
● ability to travel between various locations.
● sensitivity and an understanding of the need for confidentiality
● good IT skills
● good verbal and written communication skills
● demonstrates an understanding of relevant legislation and can apply it.
