About the role

The project worker role is designed for someone who has the passion for working with vulnerable and complex young people in the homeless sector.

The post requires you to work as part of a team to provide an accommodation-based support to young people aged 16-21 years at our hostel. Staff work a shift pattern on a 6-week rota. Shifts are 8am- 5pm or 2.30pm-10.30pm on weekdays, or 8am-8pm on weekends.

You will be expected to work 2 in every 6 weekends. The Hostel team is made up of a total of 6 staff working during the day (5 Project Workers and 1 Trainee) and there is a separate night working team, making sure young people have 24/7 support.

As a Hostel Project Worker, you will support and manage a caseload of 5 young people to help them develop skills around understanding relationships with their peers, help guide them through their support plan process and complete assessments to identify goals through working in a strength-based approach. You will help deliver life-skills sessions around: how to manage a tenancy; self-care; budgeting and money management; managing health issues; claiming benefits; accessing external services; look at training, education and employment opportunities and successful living within communities.

The Hostel team also hold activity sessions at the service and out in the wider community. These could be working with another organisation to go caving, abseiling, canoeing or walking in the countryside or cooking sessions, baking and gardening.
