Job Description
At Base71, we’re building something bold. A state-of-the-art Youth Zone, dedicated to giving young people aged 8–19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs) access to the opportunities, support, and inspiration they deserve.
We’re looking for dynamic, passionate, and creative Sports and Rec Coordinator to join our team ahead of opening. This is more than a job – it’s your chance to lead exciting, inclusive, and impactful programmes that reflect the diverse needs of young people in Barnsley.
Your Role:
As a Youth Work Coordinator, you’ll play a crucial role in our delivery team. You’ll take the lead on designing, coordinating, and delivering engaging activities across one of our core areas – Sports (including climbing, boxing, gym, and pitch sports), and Recreation in our flagship open access space, The Rec!
You'll also:
Lead a team of youth workers, volunteers, and sessional staff
Plan and deliver a fun, creative, and safe weekly programme
Be a role model to young people, creating a welcoming, inclusive environment
Support monitoring, evaluation, and development of high-quality youth work practice

Selection Criteria
Extensive experience of delivering creative Sports activities to young people in-line with relevant guidance and good practice
Proven experience of working with young people aged 8 -19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs) in a range of settings
Experience of managing and coaching a staff team including sessional staff and volunteers to deliver results
Experience of dealing with safeguarding issues within a multi-agency setting
Extensive experience of delivering a programme of youth work activities in an open access setting
Experience of working with those with disabilities
Experience of leading on monitoring and evaluation processes
Experience managing externally funded projects, including budgets
Experience providing information, advice, guidance and support to young people
