BAME groups wanted to support Cultural Competency work
Voluntary Action Rotherham are working with the Clinical Commissioning Group to develop an awareness raising workshop for GP practice staff to develop understanding of how culture can influence patients response to accessing healthcare. We are looking for a small number of BAME groups to support this work. If you are an organisation or group that supports individuals from the following communities we would love to hear from you:
- Black African
We will be filming short video clips (filmed in any language) discussing issues that may stop someone from a BAME background accessing health care, things that they may not want to discuss with a GP even though it might help to understand why they are not feeling well, barriers to being able to talking about culturally sensitive issues etc.
We will pay up to £500 to each organisation that takes part.
The videos will be uploaded to an online platform to form part of a cultural competency workshop where GP practice staff will be able to undertake the session to better understand our local communities and cultural sensitivities.
We are able to be flexible in the approach to filming so please discuss with us if you would like to find out more information.
