Barnsley Youth Choir 10th Anniversary Festival 21st/22nd June 2019

We can’t believe it’s been 10 years – and what an amazing 10 years it’s been! We are keen to celebrate our anniversary in style and put a weekend of events on that will be really special and involve as many current members, former members and groups that we have worked with over the years.

The weekend will feature a high profile international festival and will be held at the Barnsley Metrodome Arena with key events taking place on Friday 21st June and Saturday 22nd June 2019. Around 800 singers in total will take part in 3 spectacular concerts.

BYC10 Children’s Choir Concert                        1.30pm – 3.00pm Friday 21st June

Featuring 300 children from BYC Junior Choir, BYC Children’s Choir Central, BYC Children’s Choir West, BYC Children’s Choir East and BYC Intermediate Choir, the Aurin Choir (Hungary), the Stockholm Cathedral Youth Choir (Sweden), The NYCGB Fellowship and guest international conductors including Dr. Michael Barrett from South Africa.

BYC10 International Youth Choir Concert               7.00pm – 9.00pm Friday 21st June

A mouth-watering prospect featuring 4 of the top youth choirs in the world. The Aurin Choir (Hungary), Stockholm Cathedral Youth Choir (Sweden) and the NYCGB Fellowship will join BYC Senior Choir and guest soloist Paul Phoenix – one of the finest tenors in the world. Dr. Michael Barrett from South Africa will be a guest conductor.

BYC10 Gala Massed Choir Concert                   3.00pm – 5.00pm Saturday 22nd June

A massed choir of 600 singers will sing together in a very special concert conducted by 5 world famous counductors. This will feature BYC Senior, Intermediate and Alumni Choirs, Honley Male Voice Choir, Barnsley Singers, NYCGB Fellowship, the Aurin Choir, Stockholm Cathedral Youth Choir and Paul Phoenix as a guest soloist.

We are thrilled to welcome a number of the world’s finest performers to Barnsley for this important event. The weekend is attracting a lot of regional, national and international interest and a number of key figures are travelling significant distances to Barnsley.
