Big hearted church-goers in Rotherham have raised £600 for children who have mental health needs.

Members of St Bede’s Roman Catholic Church social committee handed over the cheque to staff from Rotherham’s Children and Young People’s Mental Health Service, also known as CAMHS.

The money was raised at a Christmas fair and former nurse Geraldine Swift, who is part of the social committee, suggested donating to CAMHS.

Michael Speight, the social committee Chairman, said: “It’s a pleasure to donate to children and young people’s mental health.”

Barbara Murray, Manager of the CAMHS service, said: “Thank you so much for this fantastic donation. The money will be used to buy items to directly support young people.”

Any young person or parent wanting support from the Rotherham CAMHS service can call 01709 304808.

The CAMHS service is run by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH).
