Bump, Birth and Beyond - Family Support in Pregnancy and Early Years

NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board has commissioned Barnardo’s to lead the new and exciting Early Years Neighbourhood Pilot project which is called 'Bump, Birth and Beyond - Family Support in Pregnancy and Early Years'.

This two-year pilot will be delivered by Peer Connectors to support pregnant women, birthing people and their families who have children under the age of three.

It will provide access to community and statutory organisations at the earliest opportunity in the following identified areas -

  1. Barnsley –      Worsborough

  2. Doncaster      – Mexborough

  3. Sheffield      – Firth Park and Fir Vale

  4. Rotherham      – Eastwood and East Dene.

Referrals can be made by any professionals or directly from families. Referrals will be triaged to identify need.

Peer Connectors will offer –

  • Home visits.

  • One to one      support.

  • Family      support.

  • Support to      access groups, health appointments, housing, and benefits.

  • Identify any gaps in provision      and facilitate setting up new groups to meet unmet needs.

The Service offered will be accessible, culturally appropriate, and fully responsive to the needs of South Yorkshire’s diverse communities, providing a link and offer of support to access existing services.

Referrals can be made by practitioners or families living in the identified areas either by phone or online.
