Government to Hold Webinars for Health and Wellbeing Fund 2017

13th September 2017

The Department of Health will be hosting three webinars to provide further information on the 2017/18 theme of social prescribing.

The webinars will cover the application process and provide an opportunity for potential applicants to ask questions.

Webinars will take place on:

  • Monday 25 September (11am to 1pm).
  • Wednesday 27 September (11am to 1pm).
  • Monday 16 October (11am to 1pm).

Voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations that wish to attend a webinar should email and in the subject line write ‘Webinar’, the date they wish to attend, and indicate any access requirements.

Groups with questions that they would like answered during the webinar can submit them to the same email address.

The theme for this year’s VCSE Health and Wellbeing Fund is social prescribing. Grants of up to £300,000 are available for the first year of the project.

The funding is for activities that support social prescribing which is defined as ‘enabling healthcare professionals to refer patients to a link worker, to co-design a nonclinical social prescription to improve their health and wellbeing’. Projects should design models that fit the needs of their local area and draw upon local assets. Applications for both new and existing social prescribing schemes will be considered.

Through this programme, the Department of Health, NHS England and Public Health England are working with VCSE organisations to promote equality, address health inequalities and support the wellbeing of people, families and communities.

The deadline for funding applications is 21 November 2017 (noon).
