Green Hill Lantern Walk – Your Help Needed!

20th November 2018

In response to listening to the community, Rotherham Federation of Communities is organising a Christmas-themed lantern walk through the woodlands of Green Hill in Parkgate. The event will consist of a short walk through the lantern decorated woodlands of Green Hill culminating in hot chocolate under the lantern lights.

Attendees will be encouraged to bring home-made lanterns, either made at our free community workshops or at home with materials supplied by us.

Volunteers needed

The event is intended be community led, and so is open to anyone who would like to be involved and in any capacity- including planning and running of the event, lantern-making, stewarding, sponsorship, photography etc. This could be individual volunteers, community groups, organisations or businesses.

Lantern making workshops

At the moment we are offering free lantern making workshops at the High Street Centre in Rawmarsh with all materials provided. The first is on Friday the 30th of November 4pm- 6pm and the second is on the 7th of December 4pm- 6pm. All we are asking is that attendees book on to the workshops so we have an idea of numbers. We are open to booking more workshop sessions if there is enough interest.

As well as the workshops, we are willing to visit any community groups or organisations to hold lantern-making workshops.

Lantern making materials available

Unfortunately, due to time-constraints we aren’t able to visit individuals or businesses to do this, but we can provide them with the materials for free. The materials are finite so will be distributed on a first come first served basis.

If you or your group can help in anyway, or you would like to book a place on one of the Lantern making workshops please contact  contact Sarah Bingham on sarah.bingham@rotherfed.org or 01709 368515.
