Mentoring courses available

Have you overcome difficulties in your life? Could you use your experiences to help others who may be going through similar situations? If so, then Northern College, in Barnsley, has the ideal course for you! The ‘Level 2 Award in Mentoring’ course runs throughout the year and it may be even free if you’re unemployed or on a low income and this includes bed & breakfast!

Paula Martin who is the Tutor/Development Worker for the course says “This course is aimed at anyone who has suffered difficulties such as; chronic illness, mental health problems, homelessness or drug/alcohol misuse to financial problems and a whole range of other issues. Peer Mentors are seen as credible role models, who are able to express genuine empathy and respect to the people they support because they have survived comparable experiences. This course has a great success rate with many students securing employment in the community sector after gaining the qualification.”

To apply you must be an adult over the age of 19, with a good grasp of the English language and are interested in peer mentoring.
