New data on volunteering published

2nd August 2018

The government has released the results of its annual Community Life survey.

The Community Life Survey is held annually to track trends and developments in areas that encourage social action and empower communities and provides the most reliable data on volunteering rates in England.

NCVO analyst Lisa Hornung has gone into the detail to reveal the latest trends about who volunteers, where and why in this NCVO blog.

Headlines are:

  • Overall levels of volunteering are stable
  • 25 to 34-year olds are the least likely to volunteer
  • Volunteering rates are higher in rural and less deprived areas
  • ‘Wanting to do good’ remains the most important reason to volunteer
