Power to Change update – funding for community businesses

Power to Change, the independent trust set up to support community business activity in England, has lots of new opportunities for support and funding coming up in 2019.

Community energy projects can apply for up to £100,000 to develop new business models for community energy in their local area from the Next Generation fund. The deadline for applications is 13 January 2019.

The Community Business Trade Up programme includes 12 days of leadership training from the School for Social Entrepreneurs as well as a “Match Trading™” grant of up to £10,000 from Power to Change to grow your community business. The nearest training location for groups in Bradford district is York. Apply by 14 February 2019.

If you’re looking to launch a community share offer, you can access development grants and matched investment through the Community Shares Booster programme.

The Bright Ideas fund for start-up community businesses and a new fund “Homes in Community Hands” for community-led housing groups will open in February 2019.
