Rotherham groups network to share resources and peer support

21st November 2018

Monday 12th November 2018 saw the second Rotherham Pay it Forward Networking Opportunity at Voluntary Action Rotherham. Yet again the Rotherham VCS have shown their commitment to the sector by exchanging useful ideas of how groups may support one and other.

A diverse range of organisations all came together on the day eager to learn how their experience and resources may be shared to ensure charitable service delivery is effective for everyone involved.

Feedback on the day was fantastic and new ideas of how to pay it forward have blossomed to be taken forward. This includes pledges of seasonal project volunteers to take on charitable activities in the summer, also consideration of sourcing mini vans to transport carers and more.

We were joined on the day by Florence McCready of Pioneer Social Enterprise who kindly spoke about how Rotherham Pay it Forward has worked for their organisation. Florence showed real enthusiasm and willingness to share experiences of how she has delivered safeguarding training as a pay it forward and how the City of Sheffield pipe band busked and raised £156 in funding for their project. Through cleverness Pioneer Social Enterprise match funded the total raised and have managed to secure further funds to support their foodbank and volunteer projects.

This is an ongoing initiative and there is always going to be a changing register of pledges and needs that are to be brokered based on expressions of interest received. If you are interested to express an interest in anything already posted on the register, or have a new idea please contact us via the Rotherham Pay it Forward webpage here or by email to triage@varotherham.org.uk .

The next networking opportunity will be in the spring of 2019, you can watch for further information on the Voluntary Action Rotherham website.

If you would like an informal chat to find out more, please telephone 01709 726891 and one of our dedicated team will be happy to have a conversation.

Thank you to all organisations who have been involved so far, your dedication and support is fantastic and you are all a great asset to our brilliant voluntary and community sector.
