Rotherham Organisations Celebrating Royal Recognition
Four organisations from Rotherham were presented with prestigious Duke of York’s Community Initiative awards last week by HRH The Duke of York. Following an information workshop hosted by Voluntary Action Rotherham in the Summer, organisations were encouraged and supported to submit applications to the Community Initiative, which is awarded annually to organisations which are considered to be of real value to the community and are well run and an inspiration to others.
Representatives from Grimm & Co, National Autistic Society Rotherham Branch, Rotherham Wah Hong Chinese Association and Rotherham Military Community Veterans Centre (MCVC) were among 57 groups (19 from across South Yorkshire) receiving the prestigious awards at a ceremony hosted by Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire on 3rd April.
Janet Wheatley, Chief Executive at Voluntary Action Rotherham, said “This is a fantastic achievement and massive recognition for the work of the voluntary and community sector in Rotherham. It’s a real royal seal of approval and we are delighted that more local organisations and groups have been recognised in this way – well done to everyone!”
