Rotherham Town Hall goes Purple for Volunteers Week

3rd June 2021

With Rotherham Volunteers Month now in full swing Rotherham joined other Yorkshire towns and cities in lighting up prominent buildings purple.

To mark the start of national volunteers week and local Rotherham Volunteers Month Rotherham Town Hall was lit purple on the 1st June 2021.

Every year, Rotherham Volunteer Centre at Voluntary Action Rotherham celebrate volunteering in the month of June by hosting a series of events to support individuals and local volunteer involving groups.

Kerry McGrath, Volunteering & Group Support Manager at Voluntary Action Rotherham said:

The Covid 19 response has been so successful due to the excellent partnership working in Rotherham and the hard work and flexibility of volunteers.  It’s been heavily reliant on a multi-agency approach, to support vulnerable and isolated members of the community.

Volunteers month is a great opportunity for us all to say thank you to all local volunteers for their hard work and commitment pre- Covid, but also for their role during the Covid 19 response, which has been vital.
