Rotherham United Community Trust - Powerchair Football sessions
Dec 15, 2023

Rotherham United Community Trust are looking for people to express their interest in taking part in new Powerchair Football sessions at Rotherham Leisure Centre.

Powerchair Football, viewed by many as the only truly inclusive active team sport, caters for wheelchair users or people with severe mobility impairments. Powerchair Football provision is a completely mixed offer, allowing all ages of players and all genders who have a physical disability to engage in the game.

More Than Football Manager, Colan Leung, is looking forward to hearing from old and new participants: “Working in partnership with the Wheelchair Football Association, Sheffield and Hallamshire County FA and Leeds Powerchair Football Club, we're aiming to provide new playing opportunities for people in Rotherham. Powerchairs are provided for the players, and there are no age restrictions. If you’ve played Powerchair Football before or if you’re completely new to the game, this is a fantastic opportunity for you to come and get involved.”

“Before COVID, there was a Powerchair Football team here in Rotherham, and we are eager to get this up and running again and provide more inclusive playing opportunities than ever before at Rotherham United Community Trust.”

During Powerchair Football matches, a larger ball is used. Games are played at indoor venues on a standard five-a-side pitch, with four players used at any one time.

If you or someone you know who might be interested in attending our sessions, delivered by specialist Wheelchair Football Association coaches, please complete the short expression of interest form here.
