Spotlight on Volunteer Opportunities

Peer Mentor – South Yorkshire Probation Service

We are looking for individuals who are motivated and committed to working with Probation to support current Service Users in developing their skills to achieve their personal goals and successfully complete the requirements of their Sentence/ Court Order. In this role you will meet with mentees (Service Users) in an individual or group setting, to offer guidelines and develop positive supporting relationships with the individual or group in an environment of respect and trust.

This is a unique volunteer role as we are actively seeking someone who must have received a conviction in the past.  This is due to the nature of the project and is a compulsory requirement for the role.  You must be able to demonstrate that you have made positive changes, not using illicit substances for over 3 months and living an offending free lifestyle to be able access this opportunity and support others on their probation journey.

Volunteer Bid Writer – Rotherfed

We are looking for a volunteer bid writer who will work collaboratively with Rotherham Tenants and Residents Federation staff and volunteer board members on writing small and medium sized funding bids to enable delivery of projects in our business plan.  This will involve discussions with key people to get a feel for a project and transforming people’s project aspirations into words to describe what they wished to achieve.  We are looking for a volunteer with excellent literacy and analytical skills.  No experience of writing funding bids is needed.

For more information about these roles or to apply online, please visit the national volunteering website – or contact Rotherham Volunteer Centre on Tel: 01709 834464.  Rotherham Volunteer Centre offers appointments Monday – Thursday.  All appointments must be booked.
