Spotlight on Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Gardener – Voluntary Action Rotherham

Voluntary Action Rotherham is a charity which provides information, guidance and services to the local Voluntary and Community Sector and beyond.  This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly team of volunteers who support the organisation in a variety of ways.  If you are an enthusiastic gardener and you can spare a couple of hours once a week to maintain the outdoor space around the Spectrum, we would like to hear from you.

The successful volunteer will need to have some basic gardening skills and knowledge to perform the role confidently and able to work on their own initiative.  They will also need to be in  good physical health.

Bus Stop Banter Volunteer – Beyond the Cuckoos Nest

Hi!  We would love you to help us with our new and exciting project – Bus Stop Banter.  Our aims are to have conversations with passers by in our local interchange and to reduce the stigma and discrimination around mental illness.

Volunteers will need to have had personal experience of mental illness, good communication and listening skills and a positive outlook and cheerful disposition.

For more information about these roles, or to apply online, please visit the national volunteering website – www.do-it.org or contact Rotherham Volunteer Centre on Tel: 01709 834464.  Rotherham Volunteer Centre offers appointments Monday – Thursday.  All appointments must be booked.
