Staff pledge their commitment to carers

25th February 2019

Staff at a NHS trust have pledged their support to carers by launching a Friends and Relatives Carers’ Charter.

The Charter, which was introduced by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH), recognises the important role that friends and family play in the recovery and wellbeing of the people who use its services.

Cheryl Watkinson, RDaSH Patient and Public Engagement and Experience Lead, said: “We have always welcomed and valued everything that our carers do. This Charter shows that we care about our carers and understand what they want. We have made a pledge to involve friends and relatives more in the care of their loved ones while also making them feel part of the care team.”

The new Friends and Relatives Carers’ Charter has been designed by staff and carers working together to raise awareness of, and identify people who are in a caring role.

The Charter will be used to guide staff who are working with carers and sets out how it will inform, involve and support carers.
