Voluntary Action Rotherham Appoints New Chair of Trustees

Voluntary Action Rotherham has announced the appointment of Sarah Whittle as the new chair of Voluntary Action Rotherham’s Board of Trustees.

Sarah, former Assistant Chief Officer of Rotherham CCG, was elected on 14th December 2018. Sarah replaces Margaret Oldfield OBE, who has served as VAR’s chair since 2011 and has completed two terms in office.

Sarah has a wide range of experience working across the public and private sectors and has been fully involved with the voluntary sector for last 30 years.

For the last 25 Years Sarah has worked for the NHS, primarily in Rotherham and was instrumental, along with the CEO of VAR, in developing Social Prescribing Services, at scale, across Rotherham.

Sarah, who also volunteers with a number of organisations including Rotary said “I am delighted to be appointed as Chair of Voluntary Action Rotherham and look forward to playing a key role in the future of the organisation

“I am passionate about the voluntary and community sector and my vision is that the private, public, voluntary and community sectors work together hand-in-hand to provide excellent services here in Rotherham as equal partners.”

However we are really lucky to have Sarah as our new Chair. She brings a huge amount of knowledge and expertise which will be vital to VAR in the future.”
