The Big Volunteer Walk 2018

We are ready for Volunteer Month 2018….. are you?

Voluntary Action Rotherham (VAR) with Rotherham Together Partnership are gearing up for Volunteer Month 2018. Our partner organisations and their volunteers will be joining us for the ‘The Big Volunteer Walk’ to raise the profile of volunteering and say thank you to Rotherham’s 49,000 people who volunteer their time every day to local services and projects, helping local people. We organise The Big Volunteer Walk in recognition of Rotherham volunteers, their efforts and contribution within the local community.

VAR is organising the walk again this year on Tuesday 26th June 2018, starting at Rotherham Minster (12:00pm registration, walking 12:30pm – 1:15pm). We plan to walk through the town centre, a route that will take approx. 45 minutes, before arriving back at the Minister for coffee and cake

and guest speakers from the local community (1:15pm – 3:00pm).

Kerry McGrath (Volunteer Training and Development Coordinator, VAR) said: ‘Many local organisations tell us that they would close tomorrow without volunteers. We are very proud of our volunteers in Rotherham and the contribution that they make. The walk is just one way that we can say thank you’.

The event is open to Rotherham volunteers and volunteer involving organisations. Whether you want to attend on your own, or with a group of colleagues, you will be very welcome! Booking is open now, you just need to let us know who will be attending on the day. Please contact Kerry McGrath on the details below.

If you don’t want to volunteer, but want to know what it’s all about, you can support our walkers on route on the day and we will have a stand in Rotherham town centre where you can find out more about volunteering and sign up! Sign up as a volunteer and make a real difference!
