CYP&F Consortium celebrates its achievements at its first official AGM
Members of the Rotherham Voluntary Sector Children, Young People and Families Consortium (CYP&F Consortium) reflected on their achievements and the impact of the Consortium at the charity’s first official Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on 3 June 2014.
The CYP&F Consortium comprises 30 + of the main voluntary sector providers of services to children, young people and families in Rotherham who work together to
- amplify the voice and influence of the voluntary sector and its service users
- build knowledge, good practice, capacity and sustainability
- deliver innovative joint activities, projects and quality services.
Its membership comprises small, medium and large voluntary sector providers who together work with other 16,000 service users across the borough.
Examples of key achievements discussed include sharing good practice and expertise, raising standards, working together to attract funding into the borough, representation, acting as a single point of contact for communication, safeguarding, policy standardisation, and more.
Karen Goddard from Barnardo’s explained: “Tailored presentations such as the OFSTED presentations at members’ meetings are really useful to keep us up to date with what is happening – without the Consortium these wouldn’t happen. It enables us to keep up to date with what is going on.”
Paul May from Action Housing added: “The Section 11 Safeguarding Audit Tool was a great piece of work. The process refocused the organisations view of strategic and operational issues regarding safeguarding compliance. Member engagement with section 11 in this way would not have happened without the Consortium.”
Pauline Wilkinson from Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice adds: “We also benefit from the subgroups and targeted groups related to specific topics. This includes around safeguarding and child sexual exploitation, and the Consortium’s awareness raising work. There are also consultations, discussions, updates and new policy information.”
