Masonic Charitable Foundation large grants

The Masonic Charitable Foundation offers large grants for registered charities with an annual income over £500,000.

Grants start from £10,000 and the average grant ranges from £20,000 to £60,000.

Large grants must be used to fund a specific project and can be used for salary costs, activities and materials. All grants can be over 1, 2 or 3 years. Grant amounts requested should not exceed 15% of the total income of the charity.

Grants are only made to charities whose beneficiaries are in England and Wales.

Later Life programme

The Later Life grant programme is open to charities who are working to reduce loneliness and isolation in later life by supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable older people over 50 years.

Example initiatives: grants can be offered to charities for projects that provide activities such as:

  • “Support for emotional and psychological planning for later life.
  •  Digital inclusion sessions to enable older people to access services.
  •  Activities and clubs enabling older people to remain active and make friends.
  •  Providing companionship and befriending schemes for periods of transition.
  •  Advice and information on options for those with health conditions.
  •  Carers and respite support.”

Early Years programme

The Early Years grant programme is open to charities that support disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people up to the age of 25 years.

Example initiatives: grants can be offered to charities for projects that provide activities such as:

  •  “Additional educational opportunities such as improving literacy and numeracy.
  •  Individual interventions, i.e. parent education, home visiting or mentoring.
  •  Encouraging healthy behaviours with regards to diet, activity and wellbeing.
  •  Psychological interventions for domestic abuse and behavioural issues etc.
  •  Provision of vital adaptive technologies and equipment removing barriers.
  •  Alternative methods or specialist therapies to help children and young people integrate into the mainstream education system.”


The “Later Life” and “Early Years” programmes are now open for applications. Applicants can only apply for one grant programme at any time. If your charity is interested, apply as soon to ensure your bid is not moved to the next round of funding.
