Supporting men’s mental health – small grants scheme second round
NHS Rotherham Clinical Commissioning Group and Rotherham Council are working in partnership to fund local voluntary and community sector initiatives aimed at men. Suicide prevention is a priority within Rotherham, and organisations including local NHS services, Rotherham Council, South Yorkshire Police, voluntary and community organisations are working together through a local group to prevent deaths by suicide. We now want to work closely with community groups to fund activity at a very local level. We know from local data that men are at a higher risk of suicide; three quarters of the deaths by suicide are male.
Earlier this year, we ran this scheme for the first time, and have been so impressed at the early results of the projects, that we have found additional funding for a second round of small grants. However, please note that there is no guarantee that any similar funding will be available in the future.
We want to support activities for men planned by local men themselves. The activities need to focus on ways of improving men’s mental health and reducing social isolation, and will be prioritised to men over age 18. All bids MUST target Rotherham men. We are no longer limiting organisations by size, but we will prioritize applications that have been developed with community involvement.
If you have a good idea and not sure your group qualifies or would like to discuss your ideas with someone, please give Helen Wyatt a call on 01709 302042 or email firstname.lastname@example.org – please note that we may not be able to get back to you until after 27th August.
The deadline for applications is: Friday 27th September, 12 noon.
Please note that we will acknowledge that we have your application within 2 working days; if you do not hear from us, please get in touch with us.
