Free digital workshops for charities launched
A series of free digital workshops across the UK is being planned over the next three months.
The Design Hops are half day free digital workshops being run by the charity Centre for Acceleration of Social Technology (CAST) and aim to offer a practical introduction is concepts such as tech for good and digital development in charities.
Issues covered include digital funding opportunities and specifically which grant makers are more open to digital applications. Understanding what digital assets are already in an organisation is also covered.
Events are taking place from this month until March across the UK with the Sheffield Design Hop taking place on 26th February 2019, 2.30-4.30pm at Sheffield Central Quaker Meeting. A full list of venues can be found here.
The events were run last year and among those to take part was David Scurr, Project Manager for Brighton and Hove Citizens Online.
“The Design Hop workshop is a friendly and engaging space to explore how digital might help your charity, community group or social enterprise deliver better services,” he said.
“Rather than focus on specific digital solutions, the session offers a simple step-by-step approach which puts your users at the heart of it.
“It serves as a timely reminder: that digital evolution is less about using new tech for the sake of it and more about starting with a problem, looking at your existing user needs and service, and exploring how tech might be part of the solution to improve it.”
