About the role
We are looking for a committed Sessional Youth Worker to support this pilot project, helping NEET young people aged 16–19 build confidence, employability skills and positive next steps.

About the programme
This pilot project supports NEET young people aged 16–19 in Brampton, West Melton and Wath to build confidence, employability skills and qualifications and progress towards employment, volunteering or training.

What you will do
· Build positive, constructive relationships with young people and create a welcoming, inclusive environment.
· Plan and deliver engaging youth work and employment-skills sessions in response to young people’s goals, barriers and interests.
· Support CV writing, job applications, interview preparation, communication, teamwork, digital skills and workplace behaviours.
· Support practical work-experience activities within the community centre, including café, administration and children’s/youth work.
· Support young people to access qualifications and progression opportunities.
· Encourage participation while enabling young people to make informed choices and take greater control over their future.
· Provide appropriate information, advice and signposting relating to employment, education, training and support services.
· Contribute to supported visits to colleges, training providers and workplaces where appropriate.
· Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and evaluation of sessions and outcomes.
· Work positively with colleagues, volunteers, families and partner agencies.
· Follow safeguarding, health and safety, inclusion and risk-management procedures and report concerns appropriately.

What we are looking for

Essential
· Relevant youth work, employability or community-work experience, or equivalent experience.
· Ability to build constructive relationships with young people, both individually and in groups.
· Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
· Effective communication and record-keeping skills.
· Understanding of issues and barriers affecting young people.
· Experience of planning or delivering activities/programmes with young people.
· Commitment to inclusive and anti-discriminatory practice.

Desirable
Experience of working with marginalised or hard-to-reach young people.
· Knowledge of safeguarding/child protection procedures.
· Experience of multi-agency working.
· Knowledge of issues affecting young people, including barriers around employment, health, wellbeing or digital access. Kitchen/café experience is desirable.

Safeguarding, inclusion and partnership working
Safeguarding is central to the role. Follow safeguarding, health and safety, inclusion and risk-management procedures and report concerns appropriately. Delivery is inclusive and adapted to individual needs, including SEND.

You will work with Centre staff and partners including Brampton Youth Group, RMBC Employment Solutions, Jobcentre Plus, VAR, schools, housing services, social prescribers and community organisations.
