Pathways to Work – Employment support projects for economically inactive and socially excluded unemployed residents of Rotherham.
Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council are seeking to appoint partner organisations from the voluntary and community sector, to work with us in the delivery of innovative personalised support/engagement activities for economically inactive residents as the first step towards re-entering the workplace. This will be funded through the Economic Inactivity Trailblazer.
The Government are working with Mayoral Authorities and the Welsh Government to mobilise 8 place-based trailblazers to reduce economic inactivity, with £125 million of funding in 2025/26. This process is now being extended into 2026/27 for year 2 of the Trailblazer project. This will enable Local Authorities to work with the full range of partners in their areas to shape a strong, joined-up and local work, health and skills offer. Trailblazers will trial new interventions and increase engagement with local people who are outside the workforce. This activity is the first step in that process. Rotherham Council received a further allocation of grant funding from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) to administer and develop the Economic Inactivity Trailblazer across the area up to 31st March 2027. The Council is now seeking to fund (via sub-grants) engagement activity through an open and competitive grant process.
