VAR at the Rotherham Show

Last weekend saw the Rotherham Show return to Clifton Park and VAR were once again in attendance, hosting organisations from across the VCSE sector in our tent.

Two days packed with activities, conversations and handing out merch, we met hundreds of people who engaged with our work and took time to visit our stallholders to find out more about the voluntary sector in Rotherham.

Central to the tent this year were a trio of colouring in boards. With the help of many hands, colour brought to life scenes depicting the work of volunteering in action. There were also lots and lots of answers to questions like why do people volunteer, who is volunteering for and what difference does volunteering make?

Our other activity was a tent-wide letter search for kids. They had to find the letters, rearrange them to make our chosen word, and then they'd win a prize!

As well as being a fun activity, it encouraged people to visit all of our stallholders and lots were able to spark up conversations along the way.

That's what going to the Rotherham Show is all about for VAR - giving organisations who wouldn't ordinarily be able to go the chance to have a stand and engage with lots and lots of people.

It all made for a real buzz in the tent for the whole of the two days and we're already looking forward to hosting the VAR tent again next year.
