Job Description

Activate Rawmarsh has been serving the Rawmarsh community since 2002. Based within The High Street Centre (Rawmarsh, Rotherham) we exist to encourage children and young people to develop their skills, capacities, and capabilities by taking part in positive activities in the community. We are now looking to expand our delivery team with an Assistant Play Worker.

6 hours per week, Tuesday and Wednesday 14:30 to 17:30, plus cover for colleagues and Holiday Club (possibility of additional hours subject to funding)

The role will be responsible for supporting children, young people and their families in a range of activities run by Activate Rawmarsh, working with participants to engage them in play opportunities that meet development needs. The post holder in particular will have responsibility of supporting our Funzone weekly group for children with SEN. They will be part of a team able to provide a positive program of activities to create a fun, safe and inclusive environment which will aid a sense of independence and social development.
The post holder should have practical experience of working effectively with children and young people and developing positive relationships.

We are looking for someone who has knowledge of the care and support environment and an understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding policies and practice. Strong personal motivation and good organisational skills are key for this role, as will an ability to work flexibly and enthusiastically with a team or on their own initiative. The ability and willingness to cover colleague’s holidays and training etc outside working hours is essential.
