Youth voice and participation is fundamental to all out work and we coordinate an Action Group for young people who want an active role in helping to run our service and in influencing policy and practice in order to improve the lives of young carers and young people affected by familial substance misuse, locally and nationally.
Essential requirements include:
Understanding of issues that affect children and young people.
Knowledge of key principles and processes of interactive and participatory training and group-work techniques.
A relevant qualification of experience of working with children and young people in any of the following: youth work, community development, education, health, social care.
Experience of empowerment / participation work with children and young people.
Group work and one to one support skills with children and young people.
Youth participation skills.
Main Duties includes:
To take the lead in ensuring that service user participation is central to SYC's strategic planning, internal development and service delivery; that service users are actively involved within the organisation and take part in decision-making processes.
Develop and maintain relationships with relevant agencies;
To provide line management/supervision to SYC's Education Development Worker.
