Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Utilise your lived experience to provide Recovery focused support to peers experiencing severe mental illness and supporting access to Mental Health Services where necessary.
Collaborate with peers in 1-2-1 support to co-produce Wellness Recovery Plans, focusing on individualised goals and objectives.
Explore coping mechanisms with Peers and problem-solving skills to navigate challenges in their recovery journey.
Work collaboratively within a team of Peer Support Workers and with other organisations and services to ensure comprehensive support for peers.
Promote the rights of peers and advocate for their needs within Mental Health and other Services.
Facilitate group sessions and workshops, creating a safe and supportive environment for peer interaction and self-development.
To attend weekly Multi-Disciplinary Meetings with statutory services
Maintain accurate records of peer meetings and interactions in accordance with confidentiality and information-sharing policies and procedures.
Participate in regular supervision sessions to reflect on your work as a Peer Support Worker and receive guidance and support.
Requirements:
To be in a stage of wellness and recovery from your own lived experience to be able to support others and help them on their journey
Understanding of safeguarding procedures and commitment to promoting the safety and well-being of peers and our workforce.
Knowledge of confidentiality, consent, and information-sharing principles within professional, legal, and ethical frameworks.
Familiarity with trauma-informed care and have the ability to provide support in a sensitive and compassionate manner.
Ability to draw on and share lived experience of severe mental illness and Mental Health Services.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and with external stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support for peers.
Commitment to personal development and ongoing learning in the field of peer support and mental health recovery.
Be respectful and accepting, listen attentively and refrain from discussing sensitive topics like religion and politics with Peers.
Conduct peer support work with a person-centred approach while maintaining professionalism and punctuality.
Desirable:
Driving license and access to your own vehicle is preferred
