St George’s Day Community Events Small Grants

Rotherham has a rich history and there is much to be proud of. Not least the well over a 1300 voluntary and community groups and the thousands of volunteers who support community groups and charities. St George is England’s Patron Saint. During a Rotherham Council consultation in autumn 2025 residents said that they wanted a more significant celebration of St George’s Day. As a result, an event will be held in Clifton Park to mark the day, with a family friendly celebration bringing communities together from across the borough. In that spirit of unity, this small grant pot seeks to fund or part fund events in local communities / neighbourhoods, with the aim of bringing people together to celebrate St George’s Day. The aims of the fund are for communities to:

· Celebrate and recognise the importance of and run up to the period around St George’s Day by bringing people in local communities together

· Deliver family friendly and inclusive events, for people of all ages and backgrounds

· Create and foster a positive sense of community spirit and pride

· Celebrate and promote their neighbourhood or community

· Reach out and encourage those who may be lonely or isolated to feel valued and engaged This £16,000 small grant pot for St George’s Day events is funded by Rotherham Council.
