Carbon Literacy Community Leaders Training Course

What is Carbon Literacy: An awareness of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday activities, and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.


This full day interactive online training course delivered by the Council’s Climate Change Team covers topics such as:

  • What is climate change

  • Local impacts of climate change

  • Climate justice and vulnerability

  • The UK policy context

  • Carbon footprints

  • Community action

  • Communicating climate change

Participants can opt to complete a short assessment and pledge to take action on climate change to become accredited Carbon Literate. There is no cost to participants for certification as this is currently paid for by the Rotherham Together Partnership.


The specific course we will be deliver is aimed at ‘Community Leaders’ or anyone specifically working in communities.


The course is a full days learning –09:00-17:00 and is fully online and free of charge; though we may be able to offer subsequent in person sessions if there is enough interest.


 We have selected a couple of days availability with 24 places available in total.
